Alex, having qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2004 and has also worked in case management since 2010. She has worked in a wide variety of clinical areas, privately, NHS and volunteer/non-profit sector. Alex currently provides, highly specialist rehabilitation to clients with complex clinical needs including brain injury, complex trauma, and amputation. She is a current practicing Occupational Therapist with extremely high skill levels in observation within functional assessment and the impact that any injury may impose on an individual. Alex can also identify appropriate professionals and those rehabilitation needs that may be met through treatment and or adaptation of environments to reduce and or remove the dependency on others. Alex has led on research, clinical evaluation and audits, some of which is complex and multi-faceted, providing specialist clinical advice and teaching on rehabilitation, particularly on vocational rehabilitation, to Occupational Therapy staff, undergraduate students, members of the multidisciplinary team, and external agencies/ organisations as requested. Important points to note are that:

  • Highly effective advocate and facilitator for client centred practice. Making sure there is mediation between the client clearly identifying their aims/goals, balanced with the treating teams’ areas of intervention.
  • Promotes multi-disciplinary working, always maintaining good working relationships with clinical teams allowing her to work efficiently and effectively.
  • Outstanding communication skills by providing ‘expert information’ in the required different levels of detail required, either to clients, carers, families, and agencies involved. Making sure there is consensus where there are strong differences of opinion between stakeholders.
  • Quality assessment and interview skills enable Alex to gather the necessary information to facilitate the best outcome. Efficient planning, analysis and prioritising and creativity.
  • Sound awareness of cost of effectiveness allowing for a creativity of resource usage.
  • Supervises and mentors support staff when required and if appropriate.
  • Use of outcome measures and evidence-based practice enables clear monitoring of progress and effectiveness of treatment.
  • Effective motivator to get her clients to achieve their goals.

Alex currently lives in Brighton.  Her catchment area includes London, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Kent, Hampshire, and parts of Berkshire and Hertfordshire, and has a travel catchment area of up to 1.5 hours.
